The Ultimate Androgen Sensitivity Guide
12 Tools to Get 10x More Out of Your Testosterone Levels
Your testosterone levels mean nothing without androgen sensitivity.
In fact, androgen receptor expression is responsible for up to 80-90% of muscle gains, whereas your actual testosterone level is only responsible for up to 20%.1
In this post, I’ll share 13 tools (including a novel androgenic mechanism/tool that I personally discovered) that will supercharge androgen sensitivity.
Upregulate androgen receptors
Potentiate the effects of androgen receptor activation
Stabilize and protect androgen receptors
This is all going to result in more:
Libido
Confidence & Aggression
Muscle & Fat Loss
Let’s dive into it.
BTW, my ultimate guide to increasing DHT (the most potent androgen) is dropping tomorrow and will be exclusive to newsletter subscribers.

1. L-Carnitine
L-carnitine is just an amino acid, but it’s the FURTHEST thing from boring.
First, it turns fat into fuel.
More specifically, it works by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria to be burned for energy by a process called β-oxidation. R
And because of this, it’s been proven in human studies to enhance weight loss, even when taken orally. R R
But L-Carnitine also has potent androgenic activity.
Specifically, it’s been shown to upregulate androgen receptors.
A rat study showed that L-carnitine-L-tartrate (LCLT) increased androgen receptors by 15% in 3 weeks.2
A human study actually showed that L-Carnitine can restore sexual function and is even more potent than testosterone at enhancing erections. L-Carnitine does this WITHOUT significantly altering any sex hormone levels.3
My Dosage: I typically inject 500mg every other day of Injectable L-Carnitine as part of my pre-workout stack. Works best when taken with carbohydrates. I have friends who use up to 900mg EOD. You can also use 1-5g of L-Carnitine Tartrate per day. You’ll want to read my Fat Loss substack in order to learn how to mitigate the cardiotoxicity associated with oral L-Carnitine.
Where to Buy: You can get Injectable L-Carnitine from Amino Asylum or with a prescription from Defy Medical. Otherwise, I’d just get L-Carnitine Tartrate off of Amazon.
2. Tribulus
Tribulus is my favorite androgenic herb. A human study4 showed that it can:
Increase DHT by 27%
Increase DHEA by 183%
Decrease prolactin by 56%
There are virtually no other supplements that can do all of the above to the same extent. But its benefits don’t stop there. A rat study showed it can upregulate androgen receptors by 58%.5
The additional neural androgen receptors combined with higher levels of DHT is likely why Tribulus is the most potent androgenic herb for confidence, aggression, and motivation.
Tribulus likely increases androgen receptors by increasing DHT. When DHT (and testosterone) activate androgen receptors, the downstream result is actually more synthesis of androgen receptors. This is in contrast to higher levels of dopamine which will downregulate dopamine receptors.
Higher levels of testosterone + DHT + DHEA → More Activation of Androgen Receptors → More Downstream Transcription → More Synthesis of Androgen Receptors
Important note: the human study used a product containing 112.5mg of protodioscin. This is the secret sauce in Tribulus that has been shown to upregulate the 5AR enzyme, and thus DHT production. This means that 1 capsule of Nootropics Depot’s Tribulus product will have a significant effect on DHT.
You can get their Tribulus here (10% off with NOOTBRO10). I recommend taking 1-2 capsules daily with 250mg of TUDCA to protect the liver.
